Crazy for Cricut!

The new Close To My Heart cartridge "Artiste"  has arrived! The fabulous cartridge includes 700 images ( different shapes than the Art Philosophy cartridge, which debuted last August). This card is cut using the cartrdige as is the medallion. Couldn't be simpler! The card is cut at 4 1/2" and the medallion is cut at 3/4" (x2). Also used in this card is the new Black Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. It also features the Shimmer Brads and Bitty Sparkles. The card itself is cut from the brand-new color: Slate.

I am so excited about the new Autumn/ Winter Idea Book! I just returned from Convention in Dallas and cannot wait to continue playing with all the new products. Be sure to keep checking back for more ideas!

Birthday Girl

Make that special birthday girl feel extra special with this custom made card using the Artiste Cricut Cartridge. It is cut at 4 1/2" from Cotton Candy cardstock. The medallion is cut at 3/4" (x 2) from Lagoon cardstock. The stripe is Pear cardstock. The cute cupcake embellishment is cut at 1 1/4" and accented with a red sparkle from the Red and Pink Sparkle Assortment.

The matching tag fits perfectly inside the card pocket (also cut at 4 1/2") and the "Birthday Girl" sentiment is handily located on the same key as the card, tag and cupcake. How easy is that?!?

"Victory"

Happy (almost) June!! In honor of all the men in our lives, I have made some masculine cards using the Victory Paper Packet. This versatile paper packet is great for camping, outdoor adventures, and masculine cards, layouts, and other projects. I love the rich, deep colors (Outdoor Denim, Barn Red, Olive, Chocolate and Bamboo).

Below is a 12" x 12" layout I made using the Victory papers and the Art Philosophy Cartridge.

I love this layout design- it almost looks like the pictures are just scattered across the page (in a pleasing arrangement of course! :)).

We will be making the cards in the "Crazy About Cards" workshop this month (June 6th at 6:30 p.m. $8) and the layout in the "Year of Memories" layout workshop (June 8th at 6:30 p.m. $10). If you can't make it to the workshops and would like to order a kit, please just let me know and I will get one ready for you!

Have a great weekend and happy crafting!!

It's in the bag...

Who knew those lunch sacks we used as kids could become cute works of art perfect for showcasing some pictures from an event? They are so versatile they could be used for a gift, to show-off photos from your latest vacation or even to show to fill with sentiments and pictures to show a friend or loved one just how much you care!

Here's how to make your own paper bag album:
Start with 3 regular sized lunch sacks and lay them out so that they alternate tops - first top one way then the other and then back to the first way:

Then, stack the bags on top of each other keeping the back and forth pattern. Fold them in half and staple down the folded side:

Then you are ready to decorate your pages as you would like.

This is the paper bag album I made using the Dotty for You papers.

The "F   U  N" tabs along the side are pull tabs for the tags that are inserted into the openings of the bags. You can add ribbons, buttons, stickers, whatever you want to dress up your album. You can even use more than just three bags to make your album. The sky's the limit!

Hope you have had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!

Happy crafting!!

Thursday, May 24, 2012

This elegant card was made using the Colonial White Die-Cut cards, the Dotty for You papers along with Sweet Leaf Cardstock, Sweet Leaf Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Clear Sparkles, Bling Assortment and the Art Philosophy Cartridge.

I cut the flower out (p.68, Font Size: 2 1/2") from the Lagoon polka dot paper and when it was glued added a clear sparkle to the center. I used Liquid Glass to glue the flower together and then to attach the flower to the ribbon. Once it was dry I put the Bling pin through the knot to really dress it up.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend and be sure to check back on Monday. I will be posting pictures etc. for a paper-bag album made using the Dotty for You papers.

Heartflet Wishes...

Wow- I can't believe May is almost over!! Where did it go?!? My kids are definitely counting down to summer fun (as are their teachers, I am sure! ;-)) and I am in the mood to craft with bright fun colors.

This card uses the flower outline Background and Texture paper from the Dotty for You papers as well as the Smoothie Polka Dot paper from the paper set. I think I have fallen in love with the Paradise Paper Flowers! I love how vibrant they are and how well they coordinate with these papers! I "dressed them up" with some Clear Sparkles and added "Heartfelt Wishes" using the Card Chatter- Sympathy stamp set from Close To My Heart.

I hope you have a fabulous week and I will be back Thursday and remember that the Dotty for You promotion is only available "while supplies last" and the supply is getting low, so orders your today!

Happy Crafting!!

Same pattern, Different Look...

These two cards were both done using the same card pattern. By changing up the papers it gives them a totally different look! In the top card, I added in some Outdoor Denim cardstock to make the Sunset pop and then added the sentiment from the Friendship Bouquet May Stamp of the Month set. In the bottom card the flower (note: both flowers are from the Just Blooms Petals Paper Flowers set), is on one of the Irresistibles Persnickity Journaling Spots.
These fabulous Die-Cut elements come white and to use them you simply sponge on the color that you would like and the design "pops" out where the pre- placed resist is.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend! I will be back next week with more art ideas using the Dotty For You papers.

Happy Crafting!

Thinking outside the box...

As I sat and "played" with the Dotty for You papers, I thought that it would be fun to bring in some cardstock colors that are not part of the kit colors. In this case I brought in some Outdoor Denim cardstock to mix with the Sunset Polka Dots, cardstock and "honeycomb" pattern. I threw in some of the Paradise Paper Flowers and the Blue Buttons Collection

The Outdoor Denim makes the Sunset papers really pop! The "Sincere Thanks" is from the Card Chatter-Sympathy.
Thanks for looking! See you Thursday!

"Love"

Happy Mother's Day!
I thought that I would share a picture frame I made for my mom for Mother's Day. I bought a small hinged frame at a local craft store. It holds a 3" x 3" picture on the right side and is a approx. 5" overall. I used the Dotty for You polka dot paper on the left side and then cut a frame for the right side. The flower and leaves are cut using the Art Philosophy Cartridge (flower: 2 1/2", leaves: 1 1/2" and 1 1/4"). The clip on the left side of the frame is from the new Foundry Binder Clips and attached using a bigger brad.

The "love" is done using the Keepsake Felt Alphabet.

I wish you all a very Happy Mother's Day. Take care and see you tomorrow!!

"All Dressed Up"

I decide to "dress things up" today and let Dotty for You show off her "elegant" side! :) I used the Grey Wool polka dots and Grey Wool cardstock for a monochromatic look. The flourish is from the Black Tapestry Velvet Rub-ons and the flower center is made using the Bling Assortment.

I added the sentiment using the versatile "Say it in Style" stamp set from Close to My Heart. (If you are looking for a sentiment stamp set that covers pretty much every wish and holiday, this is the perfect stamp set!!)

Sunday is Mother's Day, so I will post a special project idea then and then more artwork on Monday! I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Happy craftin'!

Happy, Happy Birthday...

Spent a fabulous weekend in sunny Sunriver, Orgeon eating, laughing and creating! What a wonderful time!!
This is one of the cards I made this weekend using the Dotty For You Sweet Leaf polka dot paper and added some Outdoor Denim cardstock and then embellished with Outdoor Denim, Sweet Leaf and Colonial White buttons. The "Happy, happy birthday" sentiment is from the Card Chatter-Birthday stamp set.

I made LOTS more art samples this weekend, so be sure to check back soon for more updates! Have a fabulous Monday!!

Bling time!

These cards were made by fellow consultant Chris Green. I really like how she used the Bling Assortment in the centers of the flowers. The Bling Assortment  comes with two different sizes of bling buttons and bling pins.

The pin makes a nice addition to the flower.

Well, I am headed off to a Scrap Retreat in beautiful Sunriver, Oregon this weekend and my main goal for the weekend is to get more Dotty for You artwork finished. SO... be sure to check back on Monday to see what I got done!!

Have a a good weekend!!

"Butterflies Take Flight..."

These fun cards were created by fellow Close To My Heart consultant Chris Green. She used the Dotty for You papers, Paradise Flowers, Sunset Mini Medley, Sweet Leaf Ribbon, and Bling Assortment.

I love the way she used the pin from the Bling Assortment to go through the center of the flower.

Notice the way she cut out the butterfly from the paper in the first card to use on the second card.

I hope you have a fabulous week! See you Thursday!

"Happy, Happy Birthday"

Happy Thursday! This fun interactive card was done using the Dotty for You papers, Art Philosophy Cartridge, Green Ribbon Collection and Card Chatter- Birthday  stamp set. The colors are: Lagoon, Grey Wool and Sweet Leaf. The cupcake is cut at 2 1/2" as is the cupcake liner. The stamp cutout is 2 1/4" and the "and many, many more" sentiment cutout is 1 1/2".

This type of card is called an "easel" card because it can stand up on its own. To make your own easel card:

1. Cut a card base (mine is 4 1/4" x 11" so that when folded in half it is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2")

2. Fold card base in half horizontally.

3. Open card base up and starting at lower corner of center fold, fold top portion of card across center of card so that it is flush with the center fold. (See photo below)

4. Apply adhesive to lower "triangle" on front of card base.

5. Attach card front to card so that just the bottom right portion of the card front is attached to the card base.

6. Attach sentiment or other decoration to inside bottom right corner using foam tape to act as a "doorstop" when the card is standing up.

Be sure to check back Monday for another Dotty for You art idea. Have a great weekend!!

"Flutterin' By..."

Don't you just love those polka dots?? This card uses the Smoothie, Creme Brulee, Sweet Leaf and Lagoon Polka Dot Background and Texture papers and the butterflies are cut from the Butterfly Background and Texture paper included in the paper set. I used the May Stamp of the Month for the sentiment (available for just $5 with a $50 purchase between May 1st and May 31st). Bitty Sparkles add just the right amount of "bling" to the card.

Remember for just $5.00 (with a $35 purchase) you can get your own Dotty for You paper set
 (April 17th - May 31st)
